There’s something deeply satisfying about a bowl of oatmeal on a cold morning.  Paired with fresh blueberries and walnuts, it’s a nutrient-dense breakfast that will power fuel your morning.


– 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
– 1 cup water
– Dash of sea salt
– Toppings of choice


1. Bring to a boil in a small saucepan, then reduce heat to medium-low heat and let cook 5–7 minutes.  Stir it occasionally, and in the last few minutes* add a handful of walnut pieces.  Remove it from the heat, and stir in a generous amount of fresh blueberries.

2. You may like to add slices of half a banana for extra sweetness, and a dash of cinnamon.

*Just those few minutes of heat start to de-nature the proteins in the nuts, making them more digestible.  This can be useful for harder nuts, especially almonds.
